so,,
i’ve finally got access to the interent. it’s been a shakey few days without it, but i’m getting my fix now.
so, the ferry from åarwich to the hoek van holland was good. we made it to the ferry port at about 3.30am and slept untill boarding at 8am. the border dudes stopped us and just asked were we were going. we said germany, and they were mostly concerened that we would be away for christmas, which was nice.
we then drove to groningen in the netherlands on our first night. we were driving along the road when we ran out of fuel on this big ass motorway….but after a long late night walk we got back on the road and had a sleep in some random housing estate.
the next day we went to hamburg and met up with a friend called anja. she lives in st pauli, which is mad. it’s basically a big red light district, with loads of tourists and hookers. incidentally, all the hookers wear these big ski boots and seemed to group together based on their hair color – so we knew were we were based on the color of the locals hair…i.e. near the brunetts, and past the blonds…
from hamburg we drove north to puttgarden to get the ferry to rodby. the web told us it would be 84 euro to get the boat to denmark (or drive the long way and pay 40 euro on a toll bridge), but pleasently we got the boat and it was only 64 euro. the cops there were also very nice. we drove into the wrong lane to try and pay for the boat, so they helped us reverse and get into the right lane. they also asked were we were going, and we said sweeden. they had a quick look in the back (very much a token gesture glance) and we were on our way again.
denmark is lovely, but very wet. the first night we stayed in a place called rag….(can’t spell or pronounce the name) and then the next day moved to the main space near the river called tag….(again, pronunciation and spelling issues)… which is just a big ass warehouse, but it’s closer to the bella centre.
so, i’m gonna stick up some pictures when i resize them to below 2mb, and get back to this tomorrow with some more solid updates….
